Our hand thrown espresso mugs each hold about 4 oz comfortably, are dishwasher and microwave safe, and have good balance. Matching saucers are approximately 4 1/2" in diameter. You will receive the exact espresso cups shown in the photos.
Like all Scott's pottery, they were thrown by hand on a foot-powered treadle wheel, with hand pulled handles, glazed with his own unique formulations, in designs he has developed in his 19 years as a full time studio potter.
The beautiful flowing light blue glaze Scott made for these bowls is an opalescent glass - with an earthy rainbow of straw, blue, and green flowing over a veiled sky blue. Like many of Scott's glaze explorations, it is formulated with a layer made from from a special glacial clay deposit on our farm! Scott has been making this pattern since 2002!
