Store Policies

We take pride in the quality of our work, and the lasting relationships with collectors of our work, some of whom Scott has been making pots for for over 20 years.  We ship nearly daily, we check and respond to emails (, and we want our work to find happy homes.   If you are buying a belt, read this sizing guide please.   


Orders ship within 3-5 business days. Due to Covid-19, we are experiencing some delays with international orders. We ship most orders through United States Postal Service Priority Mail, 2-3 days delivery time in the lower 48.  We send larger and heavier orders, and to AK and HI, by Standard Post, allow a week.  We send leather goods internationally but shipping is prohibitive on pottery.  

USPS Track & Confirm is included  for all items shipped within the US. If you would like to include Signature Confirmation or Expedited Shipping, please contact us and we will update the shipping costs.

Returns and Exchanges

We do not accept returns, unless there is damage or a defect.  Please do not order something to "try it out", we are not amazon!   Please read the description, and if you have questions email us before ordering.  If you would like to cancel an order before it has shipped, please send us a message ASAP to and we will void the transaction if we have not yet paid postage. 

If an item has already shipped, all exchanges are subject to a 20% restocking fee to cover our shipping costs.  

If you are unhappy with an item, please send us a message within 10 days of receiving it. If the item is still in unused condition, we will exchange it for store credit, less a 20% restocking fee. We will process the exchange after we receive the returned item. Customers are responsible for paying for return shipping. ALL RETURNED ITEMS must be well protected in the original packaging or equivalent, with TRACKING and INSURANCE. Customer assumes all responsibility for loss or damage: remember you own the item until it gets back to us!  


As a registered business in New York State, Under the Tree is responsible for collecting sales tax on purchases in NY. A sales tax rate of 8% will be applied to purchases and shipments in New York State. 

Additional Policies and FAQs

We try our best to display pictures that are representative of the true color of our bags, but due to the natural differences in a hide, all of our pieces are one-of-a-kind, and there will always be slight variations in color & texture of the finished product. 

Photographing pottery is difficult, especially with some of our glazes that actually look different in different light due to marvelous optical opalescence! Please look at all the photos, we have tried to represent this variation. Also note that sets are chosen after firing for harmony and synergy, not exact duplication. You will be able to tell them apart, like twins. These are not made by a machine and neither should your food be. Expect minor imperfections like you would in a wild apple. Everything is 100% functional, safe, and designed for everyday use for years and years.

We pride ourselves in the craftsmanship and durability of our products. If you receive an item that you believe has a defect, please contact us immediately and we will repair or replace the item for free.
